The Thibaut Courtois – Domenico Tedesco affair has already caused a lot of ink to flow. Will the two men one day manage to mend their ways?

This is the affair that has shaken the Belgian national team for a year already. Thibaut Courtois slammed the door following a story about the captain’s armband. The Euro will be without him, even though he is back in great shape.

Despite Courtois’ enormous ego, many observers believe he and Tedesco should bury the hatchet. Recently, the technical director of the Belgian Union Franky Vercauteren said: “At some point we will try to find a solution. It is a necessity.”

Visibly, Romelu Lukaku is also of this opinion. “I spoke to both parties. I told them what I thought. At the end of the day, the national team is the most important thing,” Lukaku told the VTM.

Lukaku calls for national unity, but knows it depends on both parties involved. “If Courtois and Tedesco want to talk, let them do so. And what happens, happens.”

The number 10 of the national team also sent a very strong message before the Euro. “The media keeps adding fuel to the fire. At some point they have to stop doing it. You just have to give confidence to the players who are here, they all worked well too,” referring to comparisons between Courtois and the other Red Devils goalkeepers.
