The town of Mantes-la-Jolie is organizing a big family evening, on the occasion of National Day 2023. On the program: distribution of lanterns for a torchlight procession, fireworks and popular ball, on July 13!
Did you know ? The city of Mante-la-Jolie was the vacation spot of several kings of France. Its name was given to it by Henri IV who, visiting the place, wrote to his mistress Gabrielle d’Estrées: “ I’m in Mantes, my pretty “. Pretty cute, right? Its strategic geographical position and its crossroads between river and land routes also makes it a place of commerce and exchange.
Every year, Mantes-la-Jolie offers its residents and curious visitors a fireworks on the banks of the Seine which begins with a large picnic in the Square Brieussel-Bourgeois. The opportunity to get together with family or friends and set off together to the sound of fanfareThe evening then continues with the traditional fireworks shot on the Seine, but before that, a lantern retreat is organized!
This year again, the many festivities are being held on July 13, 2024, and not July 14. Make sure you don’t get the date wrong!

Meet at square Brieussel-Bourgeois
- From 8 p.m.: picnic to the sound of a tavern
- 8:30 p.m.: stick twirling demonstration by the Twirls Academy
- 9:30 pm: Barrio Libre concert
- 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.: distribution of lanterns
- 10:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.: stroll to the banks of the Seine with the Batucada Drumteam Bords de Seine
- 11 p.m.: fireworks (from the banks of the Seine)
