Mr. Mohamed Boukhari took up his duties as Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion on Tuesday, following the reshuffle of the Government carried out on Monday by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
As part of the same reshuffle, Mr. Tayeb Zitouni, who previously held the position of Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, was appointed Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, marking a separation of portfolios foreign and internal trade.
The handover ceremony took place at the ministry’s headquarters, in the presence of executives and representatives of the institutions under supervision.
In a statement on this occasion, Mr. Zitouni expressed his thanks to the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for the renewal of his confidence, welcoming “his constant efforts to preserve the purchasing power of citizens through restructuring of the national market, in line with economic and social transformations.
He stressed that this reorganization reflects the electoral commitments of the President of the Republic, illustrated by the creation of a ministry dedicated to internal trade and market regulation.
Mr. Zitouni also congratulated the new minister, wishing him every success in his new functions as Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, while recalling “the progress already made in this area under the instructions of the President of the Republic”.
For his part, Mr. Boukhari thanked the President of the Republic for the trust placed in him by appointing him to this position, highlighting his commitment to working in close collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Trade and Market Regulation to concretize the commitments of the President of the Republic.
He insisted on the importance of developing and implementing a road map aimed at diversifying the national economy, reducing dependence on hydrocarbons and maintaining the country’s financial balances.
Before his appointment, Mr. Bukhari held the position of Advisor to the President of the Republic in charge of finances, banks, budget, foreign exchange reserves, public markets and international regulations.
Born in 1973 in Algiers, Mr. Boukhari is a university professor and approved expert with several international organizations. Married with two children, he holds a doctorate in economics from Russia, in addition to numerous other qualifications.
