An immersive drone for flying indoors
Both lightweight and compact, the DJI Avata stands out for its remarkable capabilities for indoor flight. The device is capable of flying up to a range of 11.6 kilometers and at an altitude of up to 5 kilometers. In terms of speed, it can reach peaks of up to 27 m/s, which is equivalent to almost 100 km/h. Finally, the autonomy is around a quarter of an hour.
But even with this performance, piloting remains pleasant and intuitive thanks to the DJI RC Motion 2 controller included in the Explorer bundle. Taking the shape of a gamer’s joystick, the accessory allows you to control the speed, progress, braking and altitude of the device, but also to hover or return to its take-off point. if necessary. The only dark point on the picture is the impossibility of reversing or the absence of proximity sensors, making shocks inevitable. Fortunately a fairing protects the propellers.
An immersive flight experience
The DJI Avata has a high-performance camera with a 48 Mpx stabilized sensor and a 155° field of view, capable of filming in 4K at 60 frames per second or in 2.7K at 120 frames per second for smooth videos. A notable addition is the built-in rangefinder which displays data such as GPS coordinates and altitude in real time. This information can be saved in a separate SRT file, which can be embedded into movies, providing an additional level of detail and precision for videos.
But the experience is above all immersive thanks to the DJI Goggles 2 headset, included with the DJI Avata, which is both compact and comfortable thanks to a single strap. It is equipped with two Full HD OLED screens, offering a contrasting and high quality image. By wearing this headset, you can see in real time what the drone is filming, as well as the piloting interface inspired by the DJI Fly application. Obviously, once the headset is on your face, you will no longer see anything of your environment, which is why it is recommended to have a second person accompany you during flight sessions.
