Sharing pinned content just got easier on Pinterest. In a blog post published this Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the visual inspiration platform, which recently crossed the milestone of 500 million monthly users, unveiled a new feature callede Board Sharing allowing to “easily share dynamic videos from their Pinterest boards”. The tool has already been deployed to all users.
Pinterest makes it easy to share pinned content
The principle of Board Sharing is simple: once you have selected a table and then clicked on the icon Share, Pinterest automatically generates a video, which compiles and displays your pinned content in a more visual way. The footage can then be saved to your device, featured in an Instagram Story, or broadcast on other platforms. It is possible to replace certain pins, or modify their arrangement. “Users also have the option to add a link to the video so their community can explore their entire board on Pinterest”complements Pinterest.
As shown in the example above, created by singer Avril Lavigne, “long-time user of the platform” and partner of the initiative, the function Board Sharing will mainly allow users to share their inspirations, their creative projects, and their way of shaping their identity. The deployment of this functionality also aims to respond to “the significant increase in the number of tables created compared to last year”, indicates Pinterest. Particularly by Generation Z, which represents 40% of the platform’s audience in 2024 and who has “tendency to pass on one’s way of using the platform to other generations”explained Émilie Nguyen, director of sales CPG & Luxury at Pinterest, during an interview with BDM.

How to share a Pinterest board on social media
To share a board created on Pinterest, follow these steps:
- In the application, select a table,
- Click on the icon Sharelocated in the upper right corner,
- Once the video is generated, tap the pencil icon to make changes,
- Choose the platform on which you want to share your board (Instagram Story, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.). Note that the Board Sharing feature seems perfectly suited to Stories on Instagram.
