Vladimir Shklyarov died, this Saturday, November 16. He was 39 years old. According to the Mariinsky Theater from local media Fontanka, the dancer fell from the fifth floor of a building in St. Petersburg.

After the tragedy, an investigation was opened but the trail of
the accident is privileged by investigators. This tragedy recalls the death of singer Liam Payne which occurred during the month of October. Indeed, the artist was found lifeless on October 16, 2024, at the foot of his hotel in Buenos Aires.

The funeral of Vladimir Shklyarov

The funeral of Vladimir Shklyarov will take place this Thursday, Mariinsky revealed. Indeed, the ceremony will take place in the lobby of the Theater, then to the Nikolskaya Cathedral and will end at the Smolenskoye cemetery in Saint Petersburg.

The dance company is devastated by the artist's death.
“We address our sincere condolences to the artist's family, his loved ones and the many admirers of his work and his talent”wrote the Mariinsky Theater. And to continue: “He forever inscribed his name in the history of world ballet.”

“It’s unfair that you left so soon.”

His partners expressed their immense sadness.
“It’s unfair that you left so soon. It's a tragedy for our theater, for us and for your loved ones. You always came with a smile and joy, and you were so loved. For many of us, you were our best dance partner. You're going to leave a big void.”wrote dancer Diana Vishneva on her Instagram account.

Since then, Vladimir Shklyarov has been married to Maria Shirinkina. Together they had two children. Born in 1985, the dancer joined the Mariinsky Theater in 2003. He was then promoted to principal dancer in 2011. Described as “an extraordinary dancer”, he distinguished himself in performances as
Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote or even Alice in Wonderland. For 20 years, he was part of the corps de ballet of the Mariinsky Theater with whom he danced on the greatest stages in the world from the Royal Opera House in London to the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
