Like what TerraMaster can offer, ASUSTOR makes a point of always having at least one NAS model under the psychological bar of 200 euros. In reality, the AS1102TL does even better than that by being officially offered for less than 180 euros, a price that we have found in most stores since its release.

Obviously, at this price level, you shouldn’t expect a monster of power or a mess of features. The network controller (single port) is limited to 1 GbE, and the Realtek processor is a small model that has to do with only 1 GB of RAM. We will still regret that ASUSTOR did not pay more attention to the scalability of its NAS. It is therefore impossible to modify the RAM or add an M.2 SSD to act as a cache.

Note, in the same niche, TerraMaster does not do better, and to be completely honest, we have a preference for ASUSTOR’s ADM interface, more complete, more responsive. Unfortunately, unlike the TerraMaster F2-212, the AS1102TL skips storage unit cradles. Even if it is less important for domestic use, it is still worth considering before purchasing this good value for money NAS.
