The man arrested after taking four people hostage in a pizzeria in Issy-les-Moulineaux (Hauts-de-Seine) was hospitalized in forced care on Monday, November 18, franceinfo learned from the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office.
Arrested on Saturday afternoon, after having taken refuge with a bladed weapon in the restaurant and having detained four people, his police custody was lifted on Saturday evening “given its incompatibility with this measure“, specified the public prosecutor’s office. Since then he has been hospitalized and the investigation continues while waiting for his custody to resume, the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office told franceinfo.
During the hostage taking, four employees were inside the establishment, but no customers. The BRI was notably deployed on site to try to dialogue with this man, aged 38, whose motivations are still unknown for the moment, a man who is presented as having an addiction to drugs.
