The Nations League match between the Netherlands and Hungary was interrupted after the 6th minute due to discomfort on the Hungarian staff bench.
The incident shocked the players. During the match between the Netherlands and Hungary in the Nations League, Saturday November 16, a member of the Hungarian staff suffered violent convulsions at the edge of the pitch. The match was quickly stopped by the referee, allowing the intervention of the emergency services.
During treatment, members of the Hungarian staff and players – including from the Dutch team – gathered around the victim to shield him from view and the cameras.
The victim evacuated
The match resumed around fifteen minutes later, apparently with the agreement of Hungarian captain Dominik Szoboszlai and after the evacuation of the victim to the applause of the spectators at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. The person's condition was not immediately known, as Dutch media reported.
The match resumed directly with the use of video assistance refereeing (VAR), which resulted in the Dutch being awarded a penalty. This was transformed by Wout Weghorst, who, despite the fear, celebrated with demonstration.
