Mohamed Abu El-Ela, the doctor of the Egyptian national Football team, revealed that Mohamed Shehata suffered an injury during the match against Cape Verde, a tear of the connective muscle. He will miss the next match against Botswana, scheduled for next Tuesday on the sixth and final day of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The match ended in a positive draw, with one goal for each side on the fifth day of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Mohamed Shehata is expected to undergo further examinations upon the arrival of the Egyptian national team delegation in Cairo.
The match between Egypt and Botswana is scheduled for November 19 at 5 p.m. Cairo time instead of 9 p.m. at the Air Defense Stadium. This change follows a letter from the Confederation of African Football, applying the principle of equal opportunities, stipulating that the match between Cape Verde and Mauritania must take place on the same day.
