The events took place this Sunday, November 17, 2024, around 6:30 p.m. On Boulevard François Grosso, not far from the city center of Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), an armed and threatening man took a woman hostage in a private parking lot, the City reports.

A witness was able to notify the municipal police from an emergency call point. Events then took a dramatic turn.

Man commits suicide in parking lot

It was around 6:30 p.m. when a witness triggered the alert button on an emergency call point. The latter reported to the police “the presence of an armed individual in a private parking lot”. On site, municipal agents, first responders, noted that a violent disputes is underway in the basement of this building.

A woman is in fact “threatened” and “restrained” by a man, affirms Christian Estrosi. The municipal police managed to exfiltrate him and bring the victim to safety. The accused then committed suicideannounces the first magistrate of the commune.

“Our municipal police of Nice are once again distinguished this evening by their professionalism and their composure,” reacted the mayor. He will hold a press briefing this Monday at noon on this subject after having received the police. An investigation has been opened.
