A new savings plan for the youngest from July 2024
From July 1, 2024, young people under the age of 21 will be able to benefit from a new savings product: the future climate savings plan. Initiated by the law relating to green industry of October 23, 2023, this plan aims to mobilize the savings of young people in favor of the ecological transition. Parents, you can open this account as soon as your child is born. The funds are blocked until they reach the age of majority, with a ceiling set at 22,950 euros. The PEAC is automatically closed when the holder reaches the age of 30, with the possibility of modifying the liquidation date at any time, within the limit of this age.
From July 1, 2024, the rates of the mobility payment, a contribution by companies with at least 11 employees to the financing of public transport, will be revised. This review is done twice a year, on January 1 and July 1. Lhe new rates will apply in different communities of municipalities and agglomerations, directly impacting the cost of transport for the companies concerned. This payment, formerly called “transport payment”, applies in the Paris region and in large cities with more than 10,000 inhabitants. It is recovered by Urssaf, which then transfers it to the mobility organizing authorities.
“Reduflation”, or shrinkflation in English, is a commercial practice consisting of reducing the quantity of a product while maintaining, or even increasing, its price. To counter this phenomenon, a new information obligation will come into force on July 1, 2024. Supermarkets will have to clearly indicate consumer products whose quantity has been reduced, but the price increased. This measure aims to protect consumers by making commercial practices more transparent.
July 1, 2024 also marks the entry into force of the reform of rural revitalization zones (ZRR) with a new zoning called “France Ruralités Revitalisation”. This system aims to strengthen the attractiveness of rural areas by offering tax and social exemptions to businesses that set up there.. More than 17,700 municipalities will be affected, as well as 13 departments and mountain territories. Benefits include exemptions from corporate income tax, business property tax and property tax on built-up properties, which will encourage economic development in these areas.
An increase in the benchmark sales price of natural gas
From July 31, 2024, the online declaration correction service will be open on impots.gouv.fr. If you notice an error or omission in your 2023 income tax return, you will be able to correct it until December 4, 2024 inclusive. Once connected, you must click on “Access online correction”, make the necessary modifications and validate. A new tax notice will then be issued, recalculating the amount due. If the tax is reduced and already paid, a refund will be made in the days following receipt of the new notice. Conversely, in the event of an increased amount, a payment deadline will be indicated.
The Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) announced an 11.7% increase in the benchmark natural gas sales price (PRVG) for July 2024 compared to the previous month. This new price, set at €129.2/MWh including tax, mainly reflects the increase in prices for natural gas distribution networks and the increase in wholesale prices.
July 1, 2024 also marks a change in the energy performance diagnosis (DPE) for housing less than 40m². The method of calculating the energy label will be modified, allowing certain accommodations to move out of the “energy sieve” category.. DPEs carried out between July 1, 2021 and July 1, 2024 may be re-evaluated to benefit from the new label. In the absence of a new certificate, the initial DPE will remain valid. Owners of small areas will thus be able to better promote their properties on the real estate market.
