Info Dimanche photojournalist Andréanne Lebel won the prestigious Antoine-Desilets prize from the Professional Federation of Journalists of Quebec (FPJQ) on Saturday. Recognized for the quality of her reporting and her photographic work, she was honored in the “Arts and Culture” category for her photo of Louis-Jean Cormier, captured during a performance on Île aux Lièvres.
His photo was a finalist alongside those of Andrej Ivanov from Agence France-Presse and Jocelyn Riendeau from La Tribune. Andréanne Lebel is the second photojournalist from Bas-Saint-Laurent to win a prestigious Antoine-Desilets prize. These awards recognize the best photographs of the year in various categories such as News, Photojournalism, Arts and Culture, Portrait, and Sports.
Let us remember that our colleague François Drouin also won an Antoine-Desilets prize, in the “reportage” category in 2014. “My mentor, who taught me how to take photos in Rivière-du-Loup, François Drouin, won the Antoine-Desilets prize in 2014 for a photo he took during the fire at the Résidence du Havre in L’Isle-Verte. It’s been ten years to the day since he won this award. It’s still special for me,” said Andréanne to the applause.
“I managed to highlight our region well, while making a nod to the name of Louis-Jean Cormier’s album, “Le ciel est au floor”, in reference to his father. It is an honor to receive this award which is given by my peers and which recognizes the quality of our work, in a weekly based in Rivière-du-Loup. We have nothing to envy in terms of quality of information from big cities,” continued the laureate.
JUDITH JASMIN
Photojournalist at Info Dimanche since 2015, Andréanne was also a finalist for a Judith-Jasmin prize. This award recognizes annually the best journalistic works in Quebec, all media combined. The text “Rivière-du-Loup health complex / Disclosure of exchanges between the City of Rivière-du-Loup and the CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent” was selected in the “Local and regional” category.
The two other finalist texts are those of journalists Sébastien Houle from Le Nouvelliste and Justine Mercier from Le Droit. It was ultimately Justine Mercier who won the distinction.
For the FPJQ, being selected for both awards in one year is a rare event which demonstrates great professional success. The entire Info Dimanche team wanted to congratulate Andréanne Lebel, an example of excellence and professionalism.
