Andrei Bykov, 49, has been convicted numerous times during his life. His first prison sentence was in 1991. His crimes ranged from theft and extortion to murder. In 2019, he was sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison for murdering his neighbor. He hit her in the face with a bucket before strangling her with duct tape. Andreï Bykov was therefore to remain imprisoned until 2032.

However, at the end of 2023, Vladimir Putin needs manpower on the front lines. He then decides to pardon certain criminals on the condition that they agree to fight in Ukraine.

Andreï Bykov is one of the “lucky” ones and ends up in the punitive battalion “Storm Z”, the cannon fodder sent to the most dangerous front zones. The 49-year-old will not die there, because he is taken prisoner by Ukraine. He explains to the Ukrainians that the Russian defense promised him mountains of gold for his involvement in the war.

On February 9, following an exchange of prisoners, Andrei Bykov returned to Russia.

Guilty of another murder

Just five months after his return, Andreï Bykov is once again in the spotlight. Last week, 12-year-old Karina Kabikova mysteriously disappeared. The police set out to search for him and eventually found his body in a well in the village of Topki. The girl’s body made it possible to determine that her death was not accidental. She was allegedly taken by force to a remote area before being subjected to an attempted rape. The murderer then allegedly stabbed the young girl in the chest, before strangling her with her pants.

Andreï Bykov, suspected of the murder since he lives in this village, is arrested. He was charged with the girl’s murder.
