It is with great emotion that Jacques Chambard, a resident of Montmorot, was awarded the medal of Knight of the National Order of Merit for his 50 years of commitment to community volunteering.

The ceremony took place in the presence of his family and friends, this Saturday, June 22 in the morning at the Hôtel du Parc in Lons-le-Saunier. Jean Guichard, Commander of the National Order of Merit, had the distinct honor of presenting him with this distinction.

The defense of public and secular schools

Jacques Chambard devoted his life to defending humanist ideas, as Jean Guichard reminds us: “You created so that your ideas found practical and generous applications. » From his beginnings, as a teacher in various rural schools in the Jura, he was committed to the defense of public and secular schools within the SNI-PEGC union (National Union of Teachers and General Education Teachers of college).

He also worked for the development of social tourism within the Teaching and Continuing Education League. From 2017 to 2022, he became president of the DDEN association (Departmental Delegates of National Education) serving the school of trust.

“Serving knowledge together against obscurantism”

Jacques Chambard was an administrator of the CPAM and participated in the creation of the Departmental House for Disabled Persons (MDPH). He was also mayor of Conliège, the village where he is from, from 1975 to 1983. His career is marked by a deep commitment to equality, solidarity and tolerance.

In response to these praises, Jacques Chambard wanted to thank his family, his friends and all those who accompanied him in his commitments: “By always giving more place to education and culture, to equality and solidarity, we have chosen to serve together knowledge against obscurantism and advocate tolerance and respect against rejection and exclusion. »

Fight against inequalities

He concluded by calling for the continuation of voluntary action to build a fairer and more united society: “There is no cultural, educational or social marginalization that is humanly acceptable and even more so justifiable. »

Jacques Chambard alone embodies this desire to advance just causes and fight against inequalities.
