The first minute of this 2e Zaehringen derby of the season set the tone: two goals in 11 seconds (1-1)! After this completely crazy start to the match, the mano a mano between the Dragons and the Bears continued. The 11the and the 4e of National League offered a great show to the 9,178 people present in the Friborg venue (its capacity having been further increased).
Never has a team taken more than one goal in advance. The very close duel therefore logically led to an extension. During this exercise, Berne outrageously dominated the debates and without several saves from Reto Berra, the Bears would have brought home a second point. The penalties then – as you will have understood – favored the Dragons, who scored through Bertschy and De la Rose. The Bears, for their part, did not find the fault.
Thanks in particular to Jakob Lilja’s first goal with his new colors, but above all thanks to a newfound power play (2 goals scored in powerplay), Gottéron took his revenge on Berne. As a reminder, the Bears won the first derby (6-3 in October in the capital).
Beaten in their two previous home matches, Pat Emond’s men – without Vey, who has just arrived in Friborg, nor Rathgeb, again supernumerary – obtained an invigorating victory. Especially since this SCB is rather solid.
The Dragons’ renewed form will nevertheless immediately be called into question. It is indeed the ice of an HC Davos in steamroller mode (7 victories in a row!) that the Dragons will scratch on Saturday.
Sutter a Garnet soon
Finally, note that Dave Sutter’s future destination is now known. Genève-Servette announced Friday that the current defender of Fribourg-Gottéron has signed a 3-year contract, valid from next season, with the Vernets club.
