Velzic. Beautiful day for “Painters in the Street”. “Sixteen painters including a child, Marius 8 and a half years old, took over the village under a serene sky to participate in the 10 e edition of this artistic event organized in the name of the Cantal Artistic Society with the assistance of the Jordanim association and the municipality,” explains Claudine Force, who has hosted “Painters in the Street” since its creation.

“This year we chose the same date as the village farmers’ market, which added atmosphere and visitors who discovered the work of the painters with interest,” she continues.

From the start of the morning, the painters set up in different places in the village, a wide choice which allows you to be as close as possible to the “people” in the middle of the market or to move away to sketch a favorite on a whim. house or garden. “Over the years, we have noticed an evolution in practices; the fact that there are no issues gives a relaxed and caring atmosphere,” notes Claudine Force.

“I was very apprehensive about painting in the middle of nature and under the eye of observers,” says a participant who enthusiastically shows her drawing.

For many, it was an opportunity to exchange points of view and advice with colleagues, enriched by the presence of Nicolas Gey, a professional painter based in Vic-sur-Cère and Monique Ferret who runs a workshop at the Artistic Society but also to chat with local or passing walkers, delighted by this entertainment.

At the end of the afternoon, the works, including Marius’ watercolor, were discussed over a friendly drink. Once finalized, they will be exhibited at the village media library, from July to September.
