Another arson attack on a vehicle occurred in Montreal, during the night from Thursday to Friday, this time in the Anjou district.

According to the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM), a suspicious person used an incendiary object to set fire to a vehicle that was in the parking lot of a residence located on avenue Émile-Legault, near Avenue Jean-Desprez.
The fire was brought under control by firefighters, but the vehicle was a total loss. The flames also caused minor damage to another vehicle and the residence, according to the Montreal police force.
“An individual was observed at the crime scene. This man would have used an incendiary object to light the car and would have fled on foot,” mentioned agent Véronique Dubuc, who is a spokesperson for the SPVM.
The investigation into this event, which caused no injuries, will be conducted by the arson section of the Montreal police. No arrests had been made in this case as of Friday morning.

According to the data that The Press obtained from the SPVM, 407 arson attacks occurred in Montreal between 1is January and October 31, which still represents 61 fewer events than during the same period last year.
