Coupe de France (7th round). CO Briochin – US Saint-Malo, Sunday (2 p.m.)
Jérémy Toutain, is it a special moment for CO Briochin to experience a seventh round of the Coupe de France and to face US Saint-Malo?
Yes, we have been waiting for such a match for a long time at Cob. It was also one of our objectives to experience a journey in the Coupe de France with a match at Château Billy. For four years, we haven't been varnished because each time we played away. Even this season, before this meeting, we always went away.
Is there enthusiasm around this adventure within the club?
I don't know if it's linked to the Coupe de France, but I felt a fervor during last Sunday's championship match (2-1 victory against Guipavas, Editor's note). There was also a scenario that made people around the field vibrate. But I don't want to put too much pressure on the players.
We were in the hat which included two Ligue 2 teams, Guingamp and Caen. FC Rouen, which plays in National, being exempt, Saint-Malo arrived just after. So it's a big piece, the club in good shape at the moment which is still undefeated this season. I think they are the most complicated team to play after the two in Ligue 2.
Is the feat of qualification still possible?
The charm of the Coupe de France is to say that everything is possible. We will have to be very efficient, the opponent will have to be a little less efficient and we will have to have a little success. But this competition offers surprises every year.
Can this match and this course in general condition the rest of your season in Regional 1?
The Coupe de France brings a positive dynamic and gives the players confidence. And I'm quite satisfied because, generally, there is a little relaxation between two rounds of the Coupe de France. But there, we negotiated the matches well between the sixth and seventh rounds. Now, I hope we have a little surprise on Sunday evening.
