The opening of the seventh peace poster competition, organized in the town of Rots by the Lions club, took place on Wednesday at the library.

Five children, aged 11 to 13, participated in this 2024-2025 competition with the painting section of the ACCR (Association cocktail culture de Rots) and their teacher, Andréa Foltête. “The theme was Peace without limits, a difficult theme to deal with in a short time, between September and the All Saints' Day holidays, indicates Serge Turpin, vice-president of the Viking Lions Club. Children have a different perspective than us on events taking place in the world. Margaux's poster, winner of the Jury Prize (150 €)will be sent to the district then, if it is popular again, it will compete at the national level and the poster of the national winner will be exhibited at the UN (United Nations) in New York. We wish him the best. »

Vote until November 22

The four remaining posters, created by Julia, Adrien, Yvann and Emmy, will participate in the Audience Award (€80). Voting is possible during library opening hours until November 22.

Serge Turpin concluded this opening by recalling the various operations implemented by the Lions club: “The Tulip operation planted in Sainte--Grand-Tonne for the fight against cancer, participation in National Sight Day, Operation Caddython as part of the Telethon and the chefs' soup with 25 liters of soup made by 25 chefs. After packaging in 750 jars, they will be sold to benefit the fight against Alzheimer's disease. »
