The Blues provided the essentials. By taking a point against Israel (0-0) on Thursday, they validated their presence in the quarter-finals of the League of Nations in March. Overall dominant in a match without any excesses to report, the French team had a few opportunities to win against a pale Israeli team. But she lacked sharpness in the opposing area.
In a match largely dominated by France, we had to wait until the 19th minute to see the first situation, a header from Kolo Muani launched from deep, pushed back by Peretz. The Israeli goalkeeper was once again impeccable against Kanté, well served by Hernandez (21').
Peretz, decisive in the goals
Harmless in the game, Ran Ben Shimon's players missed the opportunity to open the score with a free kick, with Shlomo forgotten behind the defense (36'). Those of Didier Deschamps did the same just before going to the locker room, after blocked shots from Olise, Kolo Muani and a missed recovery from Barcola (43').
After a first small alert on the French goal, with no problem for Maignan on Abada's strike, the match became one-sided again, with undivided possession for the Blues. And a few situations near the Israeli area (50', 53', 55'). Even when the opposing goalkeeper missed a cross from the right, neither Barcola nor Kolo Muani managed to get into a shooting position (61'). Unlike Zaire-Emery, well shifted by the Parisian center forward after a good cross from Coman. But Peretz made the save against the young French midfielder (76'). The goalkeeper was again in the right place at the right time in front of Thuram and Nkunku in added time.
The 0-0 seemed to suit everyone, with a first point for Israel in the competition, the match ended with a goalless draw. Which therefore qualifies France for the quarter-finals and does not even jeopardize its chances of finishing first in the group. She will play this place on Sunday, in Italy.
