PLB Muco Solidarity: in Callac, the party promises to be colorful!

On Saturday June 29, Leiah Viaene will be costumed as an inflatable unicorn. At the Callac lake, it will be equipped with a powder cannon and 5 kg of colored ammunition. Its mission will be simple: sprinkle powder on each participant in the “PLB Muco Solidarity” Color Run. She will obviously have to manage her stock of powder so that all the participants are well colored. The route will pass through three sprinkler stands.

“It’s Daniel Bercot [président fondateur de la PLB-Muco, ndlr] who offered to organize the Color run. It was obvious to accept and do it,” says Leiah Viaene, co-president of the Callac association D2 (dynamics and development). Two departures are scheduled: for ages 6-11, at 10 a.m., for a tour of the pond (2 km), and for ages 12 and over, at 10:45 a.m., for two tours (4 km). Around thirty volunteers will be mobilized to make the party colorful and successful.

“It’s gigantic”

“It’s a real mark of confidence. We discussed it in the board of directors,” recalls Rachelle, an employee of the association. “It was a source of pride for the CA. It’s really going to be amazing,” continues Leiah Viaene. This collaboration is not a first between the PLB and this association. Three or four years ago, Daniel Bercot offered D2 to take charge of the Ravito rando. It is a refreshment point where volunteers distribute a drink or a small snack to hike participants.

The D2 association immediately agreed to participate in this great outpouring of solidarity for a good cause. “The PLB is a structuring event for the region. You have to imagine everything that this has financed, from the start, in terms of research against mucosa. It’s gigantic,” adds Rachelle, an employee of the association.

“Vitality in the sector”

“For the Color run, we’re going to lend a hand. The PLB does the same thing. For the carnival, they lent us equipment. It works like that here. All associations work like this. It’s an exchange of good practices, with a lot of resourcefulness and energy. There is an associative power here that is mind-blowing,” notes Rachelle. This notion of solidarity is at the very heart of this association which has existed since 2021.

“The association forms the link between the inhabitants of the area and the services: the town hall, the Caf… Many rights are unknown to people,” declares Leiah Viaene. The association’s three employees can open doors more easily and direct those who are lost. “We live here. We see that there are needs and energies. We must not see only through the prism of problems. There is vitality in the sector. We wanted to show that and support it,” adds Rachelle.

Those who love knitting

Since its creation, this association has multiplied concrete actions to become “a house for all and towards all”. It works to improve access to training and employment, reaching out to those who are furthest away from it. This year, it invested in two mobile equipment (a mobile kitchen already operational and a Tiny House delivered at the end of 2024) to get closer to the residents of the surrounding communities.

This learning third place is also intended to be a tool serving the territory. The link is also formed naturally behind the door of the association. Those who love knitting have been meeting there regularly since the end of January. Last April, the second edition of its carnival attracted 1,200 people. On June 29, the link will be colorful around the Callac lake.
