By revealing the song POW-WOW on June 21, National Indigenous Peoples Day, Samian wishes to recall the importance of this celebration in Canada and campaign for this date to be recognized as a public holiday.

The Anishinaabe hip-hop artist is taking advantage of this sensitive day for indigenous people to release the first extract from his upcoming sixth album. Baptized Savagethe new opus will be released on 1er next November.
“It is a call for recognition and respect for indigenous cultures, a message that resonates particularly strongly in the current context,” Samian said in a press release.
Committed and activist for the rights of indigenous peoples since his beginnings 20 years ago, the rapper invited DJ Horg to join him on this rap piece combining techno music and sounds evoking the large pow-wow gatherings so dear to the members of the First Nations.
The music video shows Samian in the company of dancers dressed in traditional clothing.
“Rap, for me, is much more than a beat, I use it to denounce the injustices in my country,” he explains.
The second extract from the album Savage of Samian will be launched on August 9, International Day of the World’s Indigenous People.
