“We will not give in to anti-Semitism,” Emmanuel Macron declared Thursday a few hours before the high-risk France-Israel football match, which he will attend in the evening at the Stade de France, in the Paris suburbs.
“We will not give in to anti-Semitism anywhere and violence, including in the French Republic, will never prevail, and neither will intimidation”declared the head of state.
For his part, the head of Israeli diplomacy Gideon Saar asked France on Thursday to ensure the safety of Israeli supporters during the match deemed high risk which will pit France against Israel in the evening in Paris. “The safety of Israeli fans must be ensured”declared, according to a press release from his services, Mr. Saar to his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot during their first telephone interview, a week after the violence which took place on the sidelines of another match in Amsterdam.
