Around 8:45 p.m. this Thursday, November 14, dozens of witnesses reported hearing loud noises, going so far as to make the walls of their homes shake. They live mainly in the south-east of the department.
Suddenly, messages multiplied on the Internet. On social networks, by SMS… Around 9 p.m., this Thursday, November 14, dozens of witnesses reported quite unusual “detonations”, “explosions”, which were heard around 8:45 p.m. One, to start. Very quickly followed by a second. Some even speak of a third “boom”.
They live in Courtenay, Montargis, La Selle-en-Hermoy, Férolles, La Ferté-Saint-Aubin, Vouzon, Poilly, Villemandeur, Montargis, Gien…
Many were very impressed. “Creepy,” commented one woman on Facebook. Others describe that the walls of their house literally shook.
Fighter planes
Enough to wonder about the cause of these deafening noises. Immediately, Internet users mentioned the track of fighter planes breaking the sound barrier. This is indeed the case.
Contacted, the firefighters explained: “Our emergency call reception center received numerous calls in this regard, but without any report of intervention. It is very likely that these are fighter planes due to identical testimonies in the bordering departments of Eastern Loiret.”
According to our sources at the gendarmerie, this lead would be well confirmed.
On X (formerly Twitter), the Loiret prefecture confirms:
“Following the explosions heard in the east of the department: these are two Rafale planes having broken the sound barrier as they returned to their base in Saint-Dizier. Event over.”
“It is legitimate for Europeans to take charge of themselves,” said Sébastien Lecornu, Minister of the Armed Forces.
