The 3rd edition of the Learning Prize of the Society of Members of the Legion of Honor of Var was held on November 6, 2024. The event took place at the Atrium of the Hôtel Départemental de Toulon and featured shine a light on young apprentices.

On Wednesday November 6, 2024, the Var Departmental Council hosted the 3rd edition of the Apprenticeship Prize. This initiative of the Society of Members of the Legion of Honor of Var aims to honor young talents from several fields. The sectors represented include maritime professions, horticulture, agriculture, construction, public works, tourism and personal assistance. These professions, essential to the local economy, are supported by this recognition which encourages young people in their career.
A commitment to enhance learning
With this prize, the Society of Members of the Legion of Honor (SMLH) contributes to changing the way we view learning. It values this path of excellence which transmits knowledge and know-how in a republican spirit. Apprenticeship allows young people to share their civic commitment, while highlighting their talents and skills in essential professions, including those in the public sector. In the Var, 44 apprentices are currently working, proof of the department's commitment to younger generations.
A selection of deserving students
This year, 26 winners were distinguished according to criteria of merit, quality of professional project and social context. School directors select the students they consider the most deserving, often from disadvantaged backgrounds, for their seriousness and involvement. A jury composed of members of the SMLH then evaluates the candidates and determines the winners of the various prizes.
Prizes to encourage young people
Three main distinctions were awarded: the Excellence Prize, worth 800 euros, for particularly outstanding students; the Honorary Prize, with 500 euros, and the Encouragement Prize, of 200 euros. These rewards allow young people to finance essential needs such as a driving license or the purchase of a vehicle, facilitating their entry into working life.

In each department, other sections of the SMLH organize similar ceremonies. Then, a winner is selected to represent each department at the regional level. For the Var, César Mournaux, winner of the Prize for Excellence in the field of Public Works, was chosen for this distinction.
The 3rd edition of the Apprenticeship Prize honored young apprentices from the Var at the Toulon Departmental Hall. This financial and moral support aims to encourage local talents in their professional careers.
