In Lorient, their small film club is growing

Talk about the history of cinema, deepen everyone’s knowledge on the subject. This is the project, the objective of Ciné pour tous, a new association co-led by Nicolas Le Bihan and Yves Emery. This new Ciné-club had its baptism of fire last spring, during a first screening of animated films at the Plateau des 4 Vents, in Lorient (Morbihan), which attracted 120 spectators. Encouraging and motivating. Enough to formulate a real 2024-2025 season, augmented by new cultural partners.

With the students

At the end of 2024, the project is taking a new turn. “We are building collaborations with the École supérieure d’art (EESAB), Hydrophone and La Balise in Kervénanec, through thematic programming, depending on the location.”

It all starts at EESAB on November 21, 2024 with a debate screening of Mulholland Driveby David Lynch. The art school, its director and students take an active part in the choice of art films, during this monthly cycle called Thursday Cinema Club. “The screenings, open to all, will be followed by discussions on the subjects addressed by the films”.

Other cult films to devour without moderation: Aguirre or the wrath of God, by Werner Herzog, December 19, 2024; Pierrot the madman, by Jean-Luc Godard, January 30, 2025 and many others to follow.

Another collaboration, that forged with the Italia Morbihan association in a menu of Italian arthouse films. “We offer Where is the freedom? by Roberto Rossellini, November 28, 2024, at the Plateau des 4 Vents. We will discuss the life of the actor Toto, in the presence of a speaker specializing in the genre.” To be continued, A difficult life, by Dino Risi, 10 April 2025.

Junior cinema too

The La Balise room in Kervénanec will be the epicenter of a children’s menu, from 5 years old. This Ciné-juniors begins with a screening of King and the bird, by Paul Grimault, December 14, 2024. Children will wait a little, until spring to enjoy On the other side of the skyanimated film by Yusuke Hirota (March 22, 2025) and Little Nicholasby Amandine Fredon and Benjamin Massoubre (May 24, 2025).

Finally, movie buffs with rock hearts will rush to Hydrophone on March 6, 2025, for the screening of The Indestructible Phantom of the Paradize, by Brian de Palma.

Ciné pour tous also has a collaborative project with I saw a documentary (JVD) on an exchange between documentary cinema and fiction.
