A car and a heavy goods vehicle collided violently this Thursday, June 20 in Artiguelouve, on the D2, just in front of the pharmacy at the entrance to the town. A 92-year-old woman died in this road accident. The Pyrénées-Atlantiques firefighters were called around 4:45 p.m. to the scene of the collision, and noted the death of the victim.
This nonagenarian was at the wheel of her car, and entered the departmental road from a perpendicular lane. The truck hit her from the side. The doctor from the nearby medical office came to the scene of the accident to try to help the victim who was already in cardio-respiratory arrest.
Traffic was stopped to allow emergency services to respond to the accident and free the victims and vehicles. At 5:30 p.m. this Thursday, there were 3 km of cumulative traffic jams due to this cut.. The accident took place in an area known to be dangerous. Already in December 2022, a pedestrian died in the same placeafter being hit by a car on the pedestrian crossing just in front of the medical center.
