Since Wednesday June 19, 2024, unions have set up filter dams around the ExxonMobil industrial site in Port-Jérôme-sur-Seine. After the announcement of the elimination of 677 jobs, unions and management are struggling to agree on the PSE.

Tuesday June 18, 2024, late in the afternoon, the fourth negotiation meeting between the management of the ExxonMobil site in Port-Jérôme-sur-Seine and the unions was interrupted.

The conditions of the job protection plan, which could lead to the layoff of 677 jobs in the chemicals sector, do not suit the unions.

On Wednesday June 19 and Thursday June 20, 2024, filter dams were put in place, causing traffic jams. “For five hours, we have been mobilized with the employees to block the fuel depot and the main entrances”indicates Pierre-Antoine Auger, FO ExxonMobil union delegate.

“There is no guarantee of employment, adds Germinal Lancelin, CGT ExxonMobil chemicals delegate. Very weak support conditions, well below what ExxonMobil is capable of doing given the group’s results. So the anger is expressed.”

Points of disagreement should also be noted on early retirement. Some recall that the ExxonMobil group amassed “85 billion euros between 2022 and 2023”. The unions met with ExxonMobil management in the morning and hope for a return during the day. Meeting with the population

But they are already calling for a return to the dams from six a.m., Friday June 21, 2024. “We have launched a call for mobilization and a meeting with all wishing businesses and the population at 12:30 p.m. on the site to discuss this closure”adds Christophe Aubert coordinator of the CGT ExxonMobil of Port-Jérôme-sur-Seine.
