“We sold around 200 tickets to Israelis” for the France-Israel Nations Football League match which will take place in Paris, Thursday, November 14, says Shlomi Barzel, communications director of the Israeli Football Association (IFA), Wednesday, November 13, to the international editorial staff from Radio France.
“Israeli security authorities are recommending against attending the match in Paris, perhaps because of reports of possible riots, so it is unclear how many Israelis will go to the match”he explains.
Shlomi Barzel recognizes that after the violent incidents that occurred on the sidelines of the trip of Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters to Amsterdam for a Europa League match against AJAX Amsterdam last Thursday, the next trips of Israeli football teams could lead to complicated situations. “We have complete confidence in the security authorities in France,” assures the IFA communications director. “We have had good experiences in the past and even recently during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games”he adds.
