Billie Jean King Cup opening match postponed due to weather alert

Because of “extreme weather conditions” and the alert launched by the authorities for several Spanish regions including Andalusia, the meeting, which will notably pit Iga Swiatek (world number 2) and Paula Badosa (12th), is postponed to Friday (at 10 a.m.), the organizers of the national team competition said in a press release. The winner will face the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals, exempt from the first round.
