Microsoft is making Windows 11 version 24H2 available on multiple devices after removing two update hurdles. These blockages concern in particular the problem of the fingerprint sensor and the Voicemeeter application.
Since the rollout of Windows 11 24H2, many issues have emerged with the new update. Recently, Alt + Tab hotkeys caused a black screen, or a bug left users with 9 GB of unmovable files. Microsoft has now reportedly lifted two update blocks, which affected several PCs, according to Windows Latest.
Windows 11 24H2 is now available for more PCs. These include PCs with some type of fingerprint sensor and others with the Voicemeeter app. The update blockages are thus lifted, but this does not mean that the problems have disappeared.
Fingerprint sensor
Since October 1, the new Windows 11 24H2 update has been available on several PCs. Since then, various reports have also been pouring in regarding issues ranging from black screen to blue screen, undeleted files and crashing taskbars. And the list goes on.
According to Windows Latest, Microsoft has now fixed two issues. The first concerns devices that were having issues with fingerprint sensors. So users couldn't lock their PC and Windows Hello fingerprint didn't work.
With Windows 11 KB5044284, Microsoft said the fingerprint issue has been fixed. After testing the patch for a month, Microsoft confirmed that the update block had been dropped on PCs equipped with a fingerprint sensor.
Application Voicemeeter
Aside from the fingerprint sensor issue, Windows Latest also reports that Microsoft has lifted the update block for devices using Voicemeeter audio software. After Windows 11 version 24H2 rolled out, users suddenly started seeing blue screen errors when using Voicemeeter. Microsoft has therefore imposed a security block, preventing the use of Windows 11 24H2 on devices using the Voicemeeter application.
A new Voicemeeter update (1.1.1.8, 2.1.1.8 or 3.1.1.8) is now available and no longer causes problems with Windows 11 version 24H2. The block on this update was lifted on November 5.
