According to a source close to the case, several hypotheses were considered (accident, runaway, etc.), but investigations are now focusing solely on the criminal avenue. “Until Saturday, research was focused on the accident theory. And it was in the afternoon, following certain revelations, that the criminal dimension was prioritized,” explains this source. Indeed, an acquaintance would have suggested that Fadela had felt threatened by someone close to her.

Although investigators were unable to obtain a confession, several consistent clues seem to accuse this former soldier who is approaching fifty. As for Fadela, nicknamed Fafa, she had settled in the region some time ago with the intention of taking up residence there. “At the beginning she stayed with different acquaintances, she also went through the Biert and Massat campsites,” adds another source. Jovial by nature, she had the reputation of being a very sociable person. “She was a party girl who really liked to have fun. She was also someone who made friends with everyone,” describes a witness who met her at the Biert campsite.
After bivouacing here and there, Fadela and his companion, employed in Castres, finally managed to rent accommodation in the hamlet of Eycherboul, near Massat. “They were looking for a house or land to settle down. She is unemployed, but took great care of her grandson who attended the youth sector. Her daughter would live near Agde,” adds a resident.
The investigation was entrusted to the Toulouse research section assisted by the Ariège gendarmes.
