In an exciting turn of events, Gregg Broughton officially took the position of Sports Director within Chicago Fire FC en Major League Soccer.
After leaving Blackburn Rovers Amid a significant restructuring at Ewood Park last summer, Broughton’s new venture marks his return to the forefront of Football management. During his two years at Rovers, he played a key role in shaping the club’s football strategy, and this new chapter represents his first major role since leaving.
Although Broughton has engaged in consultancy work during his time away from the field, he is now ready to commit fully to his new role on the other side of the Atlantic.
“I am excited to join Chicago Fire FC as Sporting Director and align with Gregg Berhalter in his vision to elevate the Fire among the elite clubs in North America,” Broughton said in a statement. “I look forward to supporting our athletic department in cultivating excellence and creating a player recruiting model that not only attracts, but retains the talent necessary to drive our success.” »
Following Broughton’s departure, the Rovers have wasted no time restructuring their football operations, appointing Rudy Gestede as the new Head of Football, while Adam Owen was appointed Technical Manager. This change aims to redistribute the tasks that Broughton previously held. Moreover, John Park was appointed to replace Sean Kimberley as Recruitment Manager.
