Outnumbered for an hour, Nîmes Football Féminin beat Genas Azieu, during the first round of the Women's French Cup, and won the right to face Olympique de Marseille.
Last in the championship since last weekend and under the pressure of a relegation which will be difficult to avoid again this season, the Nîmes took a breath of fresh air, Sunday November 24, by easily winning the 1st federal round of the Coupe de France despite being outnumbered for a good hour.

The debates are balanced at the start of the match. In both camps, there is technical waste and too many approximations. Nîmes then gets its first opportunity from a set piece. After a corner from De Ranchin, De Azevedo recovered the ball poorly returned by the Genassian defense but his left-footed shot was pushed back by the bar (22nd).

Will qualification be complicated to obtain? It seems not. After two long-range attempts from Ramdane (36th, 38th), Kaboré opened the scoring. Launched in depth by Etcheverria who put her opponent in the wind on the left side, the Nîmes attacker eliminates goalkeeper Merah and slips the ball into a very tight angle (1-0, 41st).
De Azevedo's lob
From the restart, Nîmes is close to doubling the lead but Merah, hidden until the last moment on Benchao's free kick, is on parade (48th). The Gardoises then manage their lead, while attempting shots.
On a high press, Kaboré against a Rhone defender but the ball goes next to the goal. In the process, the Gardoises go on the counter and De Azevedo, launched in depth, takes advantage of Merah's very poor outing to adjust it with a perfect lob (2-0, 77th). A blunder which cost him his place, Genas Azieu's goalkeeper being replaced by François who did not need to intervene on Kaboré's poorly controlled header, after a perfect cross from Ramdane (87th).
Winners, the Nîmoises can exult. They will face OM in the next round.
