The accident occurred on Friday during the first free practice session of the fourth round of the Honda Junior SuperBike Brazil Cup. The child was admitted to hospital after a fall on the circuit which regularly hosts Formula 1 races.
“SuperBike Brasil announces, with great sadness and regret, the death of rider Lorenzo Somaschini on Monday,” competition organizers said in a statement. “The entire SuperBike Brasil team is dismayed and expresses its sincere condolences to Lorenzo’s family and friends,” it added.
A low speed fall

Diego Pierluigi told Argentine media that the accident “was a misfortune in which the factors aligned” because the child “fell at low speed in the slowest curve of the circuit.”
The Honda Junior Cup brings together riders aged 8 to 16 on adapted 160 cc motorcycles, whose pedals and handlebars have been modified according to the size of each child, and which can reach speeds of 100 km/h .
