BEIJING, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) — China and Russia held the 19th round of their annual China-Russia strategic security consultation in Beijing on Tuesday. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on major issues of common concern related to strategic security.

The meeting was co-chaired by Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, and Sergei Shoigu, secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

Noting that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, Wang said that under the leadership of the two heads of state, China-Russia relations have maintained a healthy and dynamic dynamic. stable despite changes in world affairs.

The two sides adhere to the principles of enduring good-neighborliness and friendship, comprehensive strategic coordination and mutually beneficial cooperation, all of which serve the fundamental interests of the two peoples, Wang noted.

He said China and Russia firmly support each other on issues concerning their core interests, deepen political mutual trust and promote practical cooperation, thus creating a new model for relations between major neighboring countries and promoting significantly solidarity and cooperation within the Global South.

Guided by the consensus reached by the two heads of state, the China-Russia strategic security consultation mechanism should strengthen coordination on strategic and comprehensive issues related to the security and development interests of the two sides, according to Mr. .Wang.

Wang also called for strengthening exchanges and multilateral coordination between the two countries in the changing international landscape, to provide a solid guarantee for the high-level development momentum of China-Russia relations and ensure that the two countries work together to maintain global strategic stability.

For his part, Shoigu said Russia is ready to work with China to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and strengthen bilateral cooperation and coordination within the framework of multilateral mechanisms, such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS, to promote the continued development of relations between Russia and China.
