A 21-year-old man was indicted and imprisoned on suspicion of beating to death

a 59-year-old homosexual cook in Morteau, in . Already convicted of other acts of violence, he risks life imprisonment due to the aggravating circumstance of homophobia.

At 21, he faces life imprisonment. This Friday, November 8, a young man was indicted and imprisoned after the murder, the day before in Doubs, of a 59-year-old cook. Arrested near the scene of the crime, the suspect recorded images of the fatal attack. During a press conference, the Besançon prosecutor indicated that he had indicted him for “aggravated intentional homicide, because committed because of the sexual orientation of the victim”.

Thursday, November 7, shortly after midnight, witnesses warned the police that a man on the ground was being beaten in Morteau, a town on the border with Switzerland. On site, the emergency services could only note the death of the victim. Nearby, the police spotted an individual whose shoes were stained with blood. The young man admits to having kicked the victim in the head. He then told the police that he had gone home to change, in particular to take off his pants, which were also full of blood, before returning to the scene.

Three videos “unsustainable”

Witnesses told investigators from the Pontarlier research brigade that the two men had spent part of the evening drinking in a bar. The cook allegedly flirted with the young man. “It was the sexual propositions that were made that made him angry”developed prosecutor Étienne Manteaux.

In the suspect's phone, investigators found three videos that he himself filmed during the attack and then sent to acquaintances. We could hear the man insulting his victim on the ground. “In the first scene, the victim is sitting with his face bloodied; in the second, the victim is lying on the ground, still making sounds; and in the third, he is no longer making any sounds.”described the prosecutor. One of the gendarmes in charge of the investigation talks about images “unsustainable” and a “extreme outburst of violence, beatings”. The suspect, who had consumed alcohol and cannabis, has already been convicted of acts of violence with weapons and was awaiting trial this November for other acts of violence.
