Arriving in Rennes on Sunday, to attend the meeting between SRFC and Toulouse, the 64-year-old Argentine coach signed his contract on Monday, officially taking up his duties as coach of the first team. He is accompanied by three deputies to assist him in his function.
Sampaoli arrives in a quagmire: Stade Rennais is plunged into a deep crisis, having already lost six matches in eleven days and which seems to regress with each of its outings. In this context, Sampaoli is expected to shake up the locker room, restore order and try to build a collective.
