The avalanche of withdrawals from the A team sent several Hopes to the Red Devils. Gill Swerts therefore had to call up new players.
Without forgetting that the Espoirs coach was himself hit by two withdrawals: those of Mika Godts and Christiaan Ravych, who were injured this weekend. To these injuries were added three departures of Espoirs executives to the A team.
Killian Sardella, captain of the U21s, replaces Joaquin Seys with the Devils; Arthur Vermeeren also joins the A team following the injury to Charles De Ketelaere. Finally, Samuel Mbangula, who discovered the U21s a little earlier this year, is promoted to A following packages in the offensive sector.
The federation has communicated the names of the replacements for all these beautiful people. Venezia defenders Joël Schingtienne and Richie Sagrado, STVV defender Rein Van Helden, Standard full-back Ilay Camara and Genk attacking midfielder Konstantinos Karetsas join the U21 group.
Kos Karetsas had already been announced by the Limburg media as the natural replacement for Mika Godts. Ilay Camara and Richie Sagrado serve as position-for-position replacements for Sardella and Ravych. We remain a little more surprised by the arrivals of Van Helden and Schingtienne, with no central defender leaving the group.
For Ilay Camara, this is a great first: the right back of Standard had not been included in age teams since the U16s. Sagrado, Schingtienne and Van Helden had already called up the Espoirs team in the past.
