: two houses destroyed by fire in the Bongraine district

A fire broke out in a block of four houses in the Bongraine district of during the night from Sunday to Monday. It was 3:42 a.m. when the firefighters were called to 6 rue de Seignette. They deployed major means: the large scale, three fire trucks were engaged as well as around thirty fire soldiers. It must be said that when they arrived, one house was completely engulfed in flames, the fire spread to the adjoining house, but they were able to preserve the two adjoining dwellings (the entrance to which is located on rue Charles Alquier). They also managed to contain the fire to the block of four houses, while several others were nearby in this former working-class neighborhood.

The report only shows material damage, there were no injuries. But four people had to be rehoused: two by the La Rochelle town hall, two others in their families. Thirteen people living in the four houses were affected by the disaster.

The firefighters also asked that the electricity be cut off to facilitate and secure their intervention.
