the essential
Yesterday at La Primaube, LSA fulfilled its objective by beating Nègrepelisse, but could have done better.
If the yellow and green accomplished their objective by winning against Nègrepelisse yesterday afternoon at La Primaube, it was laborious as they complicated the task. The Tarn-et-Garonnais were able to take advantage of the defensive errors and the indiscipline of the Ségalis to score the first points of the game in the 8th minute of play on a shot on goal from their opener Cavaille. Opener who had the opportunity to widen the gap twice in the 18th and 19th minutes, but saw his attempts miss the poles. The Aveyronnais tried to take things back in hand, but they were still missing the little thing that could take them to the end.
The opener from Nègrepelisse converted another kick and we had to wait until the final second of the first period to finally see the Lsanais convert a moment of domination by sending Canac between the posts following a well delivered ball. Before that, Mercadier had offered the first points with his foot. But Captain Regourd was out, first on a white card, then yellow, and at the same time blue (concussion protocol) on his dangerous tackle.
Liberating victory?
Upon returning from the locker room, the Nègrepelisse players reacted quickly and full-back Guinet exploited a defensive flaw on the part of the locals to score a try after a good solo run, thus giving his team the advantage back. The next minutes were then Aveyronnaises and the LSA XV scored twice in less than five minutes thanks to Albouy then Belaygues. Everyone then started thinking about the offensive bonus point which was very close, but it didn’t happen; both teams tried everything, one to make the difference and the other to come back to the score. And in this little game, it was the Tarn and Garonnais who scored a new shot on goal after yet another foul called against the locals.
With six points behind, everything was still possible but the Aveyron defense stood firm and the LSA XV players were finally able to raise their arms to the sky when the liberating whistle sounded. Even if the manner was not too good, they were obviously not choosy. A victory remains a victory and the entire yellow and green club hoped it would be liberating yesterday. Let’s now meet on Sunday at Lacapelle-Marival… to which LSA left yesterday the only place of the red lantern.
