In an interview with TF1 on Sunday, Kylian Mbappé (25 years old) confided his desire to involve all the players of the France team in the leadership of the team behind his status as captain. At Euro 2024, Real Madrid’s new player is playing his first competition with the armband after being appointed by Didier Deschamps in March 2023 following the retirement of Hugo Lloris, who holds the captaincy record with the Blues (121). “There are players who have more experience than me in the team”

“The player that I am is starting to have a little experience but as captain, I am still learning,” he admitted. “There are players who have more experience than me in the team so I try to share leadership as much as possible. There are players who are emerging. We have to try to give space to everyone. That’s always been the French team, it belongs to everyone and it’s a pleasure for me to involve all the guys.”

In an interview with La Provence on Sunday, Hugo Lloris, former captain of the Blues who has retired internationally since the 2022 World Cup, explained that he had no doubt about Mbappé’s ability to unite.

“In Kylian, there was a form of leadership that was emerging in him,” he confided. “We were able to see it during the last World Cup. He gradually took up a lot more space in the locker room by expressing himself and having a real impact on the team’s performance. Today , it suits him very well. It gives him even more responsibility. We see it with the Blues. He is light, has a smile, is ready to meet the expectations and the new challenges that lie ahead.
