UBB won 31-17 against Racing 92 after a full match and qualified for the semi-final! She will face Stade Français Paris next Saturday at 9:05 p.m. at the Matmut Atlantique stadium.
This Barrage match looked like it was going to be busy and it was from the first minutes of the game, with both teams entering this knockout clash with great enthusiasm. The Racingmen struck first with a penalty of almost 60m from their back Tristan Tedder in the 3rd minute of play. The Girondins responded two minutes later, also on a penalty, with the boot of Maxime Lucu (5th; 3-3).
After a balanced first 10 minutes, the Bordeaux captain added 3 new points on a penalty in the 12th minute, from 40m in front and allowed his team to take the score for the first time in the game (6-3). This time it was Tristan Tedder’s turn to respond, with a new distant penalty (6-6; 17th). Returning from the locker room, our Girondins continued at the same pace and quickly scored a new penalty, again by their captain Maxime Lucu in the 46th minute (24-12). They were even very close to scoring a new try a few minutes later, in fact, on a ball pushed at the foot by Romain Buros, Louis Bielle-Biarrey was on the verge of scoring but committed a forward. Despite this, the Bordeaux & Blanc continued to push and corner the racing players into their camp. In the 52nd minute on a little kick over from Max Lucu in the 22m of Racing, Romain Buros followed well and was the quickest to flatten in the Ciels and Blanc goal, Max Lucu transformed and allowed his team to lead 31-12!
The Racingmen then tried to react but came up against a strong Bordeaux defense which repelled their attacks. But they finally found the fault, in an endless sequence, Tedder pierced the first curtain and the ball arrived to Spring who scored without opposition (31-17; 67th).
In the last quarter of an hour, Siya Kolisi’s teammates continued to push but came up against a strong Bordelaise defense and were unable to score. On a final touch in their favor after the siren, they even lost the ball and Damian Penaud sent the ball into the stands to give the match a final clap!
This victory gives our Bordeaux & Blanc their place in the semi-final.
