Although skepticism still reigns around the timing, Trump is visibly moving forward to put this promise into action. A plan intended to end the war in Ukraine was presented to the Republican candidate by two of his closest advisers, Keith Kellogg and Fred Fleitz.
The miracle plan
The strategy has its foundations in blackmail. The idea: in the event that Moscow refuses to negotiate, then the United States will promise increased support to Ukraine. This is what retired General Keith Kellogg, one of Donald Trump’s national security advisers, says.
Added to this is a ceasefire on the front lines existing at the time of the negotiations, as well as the absence of a “short-term” possibility for Ukraine to join NATO.
Fred Fleitz publicly welcomes Trump’s response to this proposed plan. “II’m not pretending he approved it or approved every word of it, but we were happy to get the reactions we got“, the adviser told Reuters news agency. It should be noted, however, that these are not official statements, since they do not come from Donald Trump himself or authorized members of his election campaign.
The Kremlin’s response
”The value of any plan lies in the nuances and in taking into account the true state of the situation on the ground. President Putin has repeatedly said that Russia is and remains open to negotiations, taking into account the real situation on the ground“, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Reuters as well. A vague answer for a plan that is not yet fully developed.
