PORTRAIT – At 24 years old, Rémois Keniaz Namoyan is the top regional scorer for the 2023-2024 season

He is from Rémois, studying entrepreneurship at AFPAM in Bezannes, and he is the top scorer in the French Regional this season. Of the 102 goals scored in the 2023-2024 season by his football club, Reims Murigny Franco Portuguese, Keniaz Namoyan scored no less than 48. At only 24 years old, he has become the star of his team, which has already climbed two divisions in two years.

And after 13 years at this club, it is time for him to move on to new horizons. Keniaz Namoyan resigned this Thursday, June 13 from the Reims Murigny club, to join Epernay. He says to himself “relieved” but he leaves his club, inevitably, with a little pang in his heart, “even if it’s just a simple goodbye.”

Attached to his favorite club, he wishes “to end” his career “here”. And some memories will remain engraved in his memory forever.

He has scored more goals than Kylian Mbappé this season

One of the meetings that marked him the most this year was probably the last. “The last match was special because we won 10-0 against Aÿ-Champagne, when we were already champions. And we were able to celebrate my departure in a very nice way,” says Keniaz Namoyan.

A number of goals which adds to the exceptional season which has just passed. The student scored 48 this year, it’s more than Kylian Mbappé, which makes the Reims player smile. “It makes me happy, but it’s not the same level,” he emphasizes. He believes that it is not “just a bonus” and that’he owes it to his team, whose mission was “to go up to R2”. A mission accomplished.

“It’s like when we have children, the day they leave, we’re a little sad”

The president of Reims Murigny Franco Portuguese has eyes that sparkle when he talks about his attacker, “who was first a defender”, he confides. For Eric Cerdan, Keniaz Namoyan is “a child of the club, since he started here at the age of 12”. So obviously, Seeing him leave doesn’t leave him indifferent.

“It’s like when we have children, explains Eric Cerdan. The day they leave, we are always a little sad. But that’s also why we raise children, why we train players, it’s so that one day they can go and flourish.”

And the president of Reims Murigny Franco Portuguese assures us, “he has flourished here and we sincerely hope that he will flourish even more in his new club”, Epernay. For his part, Keniaz Namoyan does not say “No” to the idea of, why not, come back one day to set foot on the pitch of Reims Murigny FC, as a coach.
