Tennis, WTA – Nottingham Tournament 2024: Boulter won the final against Pliskova

This is the third title of his career, the second in a row in Nottingham. Before being titled on the English turf, Katie Boulter had an eventful Sunday. The Briton first had to overcome her compatriot Emma Raducanu in the semi-final after losing the first set on Saturday before the match was interrupted.

Then Katie Boulter had to come up with a handicap set against Karolina Pliskova in the final. The Briton perfectly knew how to take advantage of her opponent’s weakness in serving to reverse the trend. With seven double faults and only 32% of points won behind her second ball, the Czech did not have the weapons to maintain her advantage.

Boulter: “With the crowd behind me, anything is possible.”

“I don’t know if it’s a dream or if it’s real! The day was very difficult to deal with mentally but I am very happy to win here again. Nottingham holds a place in my heart. The rest of the grass season? With the public behind me, anything is possible!” said Katie Boulter after her victory.

Despite her title acquired on Sunday in Nottingham, Katie Boulter will lose a place in the next WTA ranking to find herself at 31st place. She remains the British number one.

Before her victory on Sunday against Pliskova, 50th WTA player in the world, Boulter, ranked 30th at the WTA, won against Harriet Dart (6-7 [5]6-4, 7-5), against the Canadian qualifier Rebecca Marino (6-4, 6-3), against the Polish Magdalena Frech, seeded n°5 (6-2, 6-4), and against wild card Emma Raducanu (6-7 [13]6-3, 6-4).

Karolina Pliskova eliminated the American Alycia Parks (6-4, 6-4), the wild card Heather Watson (6-4, 6-4), the Tunisian Ons Jabeur, seeded n°1 (7-6 [8]6-7 [3]7-5), and Frenchwoman Diane Parry (6-7 [9]6-1, 6-4).
