The legend Jerry West talks about French basketball: “At one point, they didn’t have…

Alexandre Sarr: Bilal, I didn’t know him that much because we really had two different paths. I’ve never played with or against him, but I’ve followed his journey and I know what he does. It’s the same for the other French people in the league, whether it’s Victor or Zaccharie (Risacher), Tidjane (Salaün), Melvin (Ajinça), Pacôme (Dadiet)… Everyone I’ve worked with with the French teams.

I played with the Blues for three summers in a row, so I remained familiar with French players my age.

Attentive to the prowess and development of his young compatriots, Sarr nevertheless recognizes that he has not yet had the opportunity to forge links with Coulibaly.

However, he could find himself alongside him next year, and not in the ranks of the France team. Indeed, a selection as 2nd pick would see him join Washington DC, where Bilal has just had a most encouraging rookie season. It remains to be seen whether the Wizards will have the opportunity to get him back, otherwise they could set their sights on Zaccharie Risacher.

In less than 2 weeks, Alexandre Sarr will be part of the long list of NBA Frenchies, along with Victor Wembanyama and Bilal Coulibaly. No doubt the opportunity for him to get closer to them, if he has not been able to do so until now.
