During the night from Friday to Saturday, a man died, stabbed to death, in Libourne, we learned from sources close to the case, confirming information from the Resistance. The victim, aged 40 and of Moroccan nationality, succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at Sainte-Foy-la-Grande hospital, where two relatives had rushed her. The alert was given around 2:30 a.m.
Gendarmes, as well as a magistrate from the Libourne public prosecutor’s office, quickly went a few kilometers from Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, to Pineuilh, where the victim seemed to have recently been living in very precarious conditions, with her brother. They lived in a sort of construction shed on rue Jules-Ferry. This is where the attack allegedly took place earlier in the night. The two brothers would have received a visit from a third man. Alcohol was said to have flowed freely before a fight broke out and a knife was pulled. The cellphone ? The investigation will have to determine this. The alleged perpetrator of the stabbing fled.
The wanted suspect
He was actively sought and had still not been found this Sunday, June 16 afternoon. “The investigation is ongoing and progressing,” indicates Bordeaux deputy prosecutor Rachel Bray. The Libourne public prosecutor’s office in fact relinquished responsibility to the criminal division of the Bordeaux public prosecutor’s office during the day of Saturday. An investigation into “intentional homicide” has been opened.
The investigations were entrusted to the gendarmes of the Libourne research brigade, in co-responsibility with the Bordeaux-Bouliac research section. An autopsy on the body of the deceased must be carried out at the beginning of the week, at the Bordeaux medico-legal institute.
The two people who transported the victim to hospital were placed in police custody for a few hours, before being exonerated and released. These are the brother of the deceased and another man who, according to initial information, housed them and employed them for work in the building, in conditions which remain to be clarified. The latter would have been called for help after the attack.
