It was in a condition deemed serious by emergency services that a 17-year-old teenager was hospitalized following a scooter accident, Sunday June 16, 2024, in Bezons. (Val d’Oise).

In circumstances which remain to be determined by the police investigation, the victim entered collided with a car rue Gabriel-Péri, shortly before 1:30 p.m.

Hospitalized in absolute emergency

Supported by firefighters and a medical team from Samu 95, the teenager received first aid on site before being evacuated in absolute emergency to the Argenteuil hospital center.

At the scene, the driver of the car and his passenger were taken care of by officials of the national police in order to be heard on the circumstances of the accident.

Injuries as serious as on a bicycle or motorcycle

In a study unveiled in July 2023, doctors from APHP, Sorbonne University and Inserm warned of the fact that an accident with an electric scooter is as serious as with a bicycle or motorcycle. The researchers went even further: the injuries are even more serious than in other two-wheelers.

Drivers of EDPMs (electric scooters, self-balancing scooters, monowheels or hoverboards) present severe trauma in 45.5% of cases. “This constituted injuries as severe as those of motorcycle drivers, despite a priori lower speed,” note the researchers.
